Do textbook authors need an agent?

I answer a resounding yes, and I'll add more now than ever before. Mergers and acquisitions have placed textbook authors in a helpless and frustrating position. New authors find themselves overwhelmed by their lack of experience with the business side of publishing placing themselves in a severe disadvantage by trying to negotiate their contracts on their own. The Rosenberg Group will give authors confidence that their deal points (advance, royalty, grants and permissions) are fair. There are also many boilerplate clauses that can be negotiated. Remember that a successful textbook's terms remain in effect for the life of the title. I negotiate a textbook contract from the position that the book is going to sell for fifteen or twenty years. If you are interested in The Rosenberg Group, I'll be happy to refer you to one of my satisfied clients.
